Treasure Islands – Tax Havens and the Men who Stole the World

January 8, 2011

By Nicholas Shaxson

Nicholas Shaxson, the editor of TJN's Tax Justice Focus and writer for the Tax Justice Network, is an associate fellow at Chatham House in London and the author of a book about tax havens, entitled Treasure Islands, launched in 2011.

This is a moment TJN has been waiting for, for a long time. The UK launch of Nicholas Shaxson’s flagship book Treasure Islands and the Men who Stole the World. Shaxson has worked closely with TJN in its writing.

We are delighted that the Guardian newspaper is running a serialisation of the book, and the first piece, entitled The Truth about Tax Havens, is now live. More to come. There are some great endorsements too.

The publisher, Random House, has signed deals with seven other publishers around the world so far, and more are expected. A second reprint has already been ordered, since sales have already been so strong, even though the official press launch date is not until Thursday, January 13th. TJN is also now working on a major documentary thriller, Cashback, to accompany and complement the book.

The book is already on sale, and should be in most bookshops already. The next publication will be a slightly slimmed-down version of Treasure Islands by Palgrave Macmillan in the United States, due in April.
