Bolivia, the poorest country in Latin America, provides clear evidence of the difference that fairer taxation of multinational companies can make to vulnerable peoples lives.

After massive grassroots protests Bolivia raised taxes on gas and oil exports to 50%. Most companies had previously paid as little as 18%. As a result 2.4 million of the most vulnerable people (20% of the population) are receiving financial support.
